How messages are handled

Messages, photos, videos, metadata, delivery state, and view-once state may be retained according to the administrator retention setting. Authorized administrators can inspect this data. This service does not currently provide end-to-end encryption.

User auto-clear

User-facing retention removes expired messages from that user account's chat view. It does not delete authorized moderation history. Server retention is controlled separately by the administrator.

Browser and media boundaries

Secret Chat does not intentionally save private chat media in localStorage, IndexedDB, Cache Storage, or a service-worker cache. Temporary previews use revoked object URLs. A website still cannot completely control browser or device downloads, caches, screenshots, recordings, extensions, malware, compromised devices, shared devices, or external cameras.

Application passcode

The Secret Chat Passcode covers this website when it locks. It is not an operating-system lock and does not protect the whole browser or device.

What view once means

View Once enforces a single successful claim through the application. It reduces repeated access but cannot prevent capture outside the application.

Your choices

Keep your 4-digit account passcode, Private PIN, and invitation links confidential, sign out on shared devices, and only share media you are comfortable sharing.
